Fidgesaurus Rex Cat Lounger Cover

This cover was designed to fit over the platform of a cat lounger measuring 9.5 inches wide by 18 inches long. The platform curves up a bit on each of the long sides. A garter stitch border, worked in the round, secures the cover in place.

Yarn: 1 skein Felines Chunky Fidgesaurus Rex for the main panel, and 1 skein Cascade 220 Dark Brown for the border. Fidgesaurus Rex, Caledon Hills, or any other chunky yarn, could also be used for the border.

Needles: US 10.5 (straight or circular), US 10 (32 inch circular), US 9 (32 inch circular)

Main Panel: With US 10.5 needles and Fidgesaurus Rex yarn, CO 35 stitches.

Row 1: (RS) k4, p2, k4, p2, k11, p2, k4, p2, k4

Row 2: (WS) p4, k2, p4, k2, p11, k2, p4, k2, p4

Rows 3 and 4: repeat rows 1 and 2

Row 5: k4, p2, C4F, p2, k11, p2, C4B, p2, k4

Row 6: p4, k2, p4, k2, p11, k2, p4, k2, p4

Repeat the 6 row pattern until the main panel measures 18 inches long. Bind off and block.

Border: (RS) With US 10 needles and border yarn, beginning one stitch in from a corner, and ending one stitch before the end of the side, pick up and knit 33 stitches along a short side of the main panel. Place marker. Continue to pick up and knit along the long side, picking up and knitting 3 stitches for every 4 rows worked. Place marker at the end of the long side. Pick up and knit 33 stitches along the other short side of the main panel as before. Place marker, then pick up and knit along the last long side, picking up and knitting 3 stitches for every 4 rows worked. Place marker and join round.

Rnd 1: (WS) Purl.

Rnd 2: (RS) Knit.

Rnds 3-4: Repeat rnds 1 and 2.

Rnd 5: *P2, p2tog, p until 4 stitches remain before a marker, p2tog, p2* 4 times. (8 stitches decreased)

Rnds 6-7: Repeat rnds 2 and 5

Rnds 8-10: Switch to US 9 needles. Repeat rnds 2 and 5, and then rnd 2 again.

BO. Weave in ends.
