MATERIALS • 6 (7, 8, 9) skeins Tahki Yarns COTTON CLASSIC 100% mercerized cotton (1.75oz/50g; 108yds/100m) in color #3764 bright spearmint • One pair size 6 (4mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE • One size 7 (4.5mm) circular needle, 24”/60cm long, for neck • Stitch holder • Yarn needle • One button 1” (25mm) diameter
20 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE
PATTERN STITCHES Stockinette stitch (St st) K1, p1 rib (multiple of 2 sts + 1)
Lace stitch Row 1 (RS) * K1 wrapping yarn twice around needle; rep from * to end. Row 2 * P1 dropping extra wrap; rep from * to end. Rows 3 and 5 Knit. Rows 4 and 6 Purl. Repeat Rows 1-6 for Lace stitch.
BACK Cast on 63 (73, 83, 93) sts (RS) Knit 2 rows. (RS) Change to Lace stitch; work 18 rows. Increase Row (RS) Knit, inc 20 sts evenly across row – 83 (93, 103, 113) sts. (RS) Change to St st; work even until piece measures 12 (12 1/2, 13, 13 1/2)” from beginning, end with a WS row.
Shape Armholes (RS) Bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 73 (81, 89, 97) sts rem. Decrease Row (RS) K2, ssk, work to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Work 1 row even. Rep last 2 rows 3 (4, 5, 6) more times – 65 (71, 77, 83) sts rem. Work even until Armhole measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9)” from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulders (RS) Bind off 8 (9, 10, 11) sts at beg of next 4 rows – 33 (35, 37, 39) sts remain. Place rem sts on holder for Back Neck.
LEFT FRONT Cast on 31 (37, 41, 47) sts. (RS) Knit 2 rows. (RS) Change to Lace stitch; work 18 rows. Increase Row (RS) Knit, inc 6 sts evenly across row – 37 (43, 47, 53) sts. (RS) Change to St st; work 2 rows.
Shape Neck Decrease Row (RS) Work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Work 5 rows even. Rep last 6 rows 11 (13, 13, 15) more times. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 12 (12 1/2, 13, 13 1/2)” from beg, shape Armhole.
Shape Armhole (RS) Bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts at beg of row. Work 1 row even. Decrease Row (RS) K2, ssk, work to end of row. Work 1 row even. Rep last 2 rows 3 (4, 5, 6) more times. 16 (18, 20, 22) sts rem after Neck shaping is complete. Work even until Armhole measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9)” from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Shoulder (RS) Bind off 8 (9, 10, 11) sts at beg of next 2 RS rows.
RIGHT FRONT Work as for LEFT FRONT, reversing all shaping.
SLEEVES Cast on 53 (57, 61, 65) sts. (RS) Knit 2 rows. (RS) Change to Lace stitch; work 18 rows. Increase Row (RS) Knit, inc 12 sts evenly across row – 65 (69, 73, 77) sts. (RS) Change to St st; work in St st for remainder of SLEEVE. AT THE SAME TIME, begin shaping Cap after working 3 rows in k1, p1 rib.
Shape Cap (RS) Bind off 5 (6, 7, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 55 (57, 59, 61) sts rem. Decrease Row (RS) K2, ssk, work to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Work 1 row even. ReP last 2 rows 15 more times – 23 (25, 27, 29) sts rem. (RS) Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 4 rows – 7 (9, 11, 13) sts rem. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING Block pieces to measurements. Sew shoulder seams. Set in SLEEVES; sew side and Sleeve seams.
Front Bands With RS facing, beginning at bottom RIGHT FRONT, using circular needle, pick up and knit 100 (105, 110, 115) sts evenly up RIGHT FRONT edge, 33 (35, 37, 39) sts from Back neck holder and 100 (105, 110, 115) sts down LEFT FRONT edge – 233 (245, 257, 269) sts. (WS) Begin k1, p1 rib; work 4 rows. Buttonhole Row (WS) Work to center of rib section of RIGHT FRONT, (yo, k2tog) for buttonhole, work to end. Work 2 more rows in k1, p1 rib. Bind off in rib.
